Naturism is a way of life in harmony with nature characterized by the practice of communal nudity with the intention of encouraging self-respect, respect for others and the environment, tells us the International Naturist Federation.
But what does mean healthy living? Eat organic and become vegan? No longer consuming fossil energy? Buy only fair trade products? I would stick to the physical and psychological aspects of a healthy life. To live healthily is thus to live in full health, to the best of one’s form.
Become aware of your body
Work is health, doing nothing is keeping it, were we singing at school to escape homework. However, we all know that If you have a joint that hurts or a migraine, it’s hard to say you’re healthy.
The path to a healthy life begins with the realization of one’s body sensations and feelings. In this, the naturist often has heightened awareness. When she is stripping at home, at the beach or at the club, the naturist speaks immediately about this sensation of freedom, of well-being. The naturist is a hedonist who appreciates the pleasure of nudity.
Naked, flaws become visible, and you either accept them or puts them on the list of those to be eliminated. This awareness of our physical body and the suppression of the shame that the society builds through the media, the fitness and fashion industries, and religions and cultural norms are at the heart of the naturist philosophy. Just go to a naturist beach and chat with naturists to immediately realize the diversity of bodies and the relaxation that goes with nudity.
The naturist is fully aware of her body, she assumes the flaws and frees herself from the shame gained by the search for physical perfection. In other words, and to return to the official definition of naturism, a naturist respects his body and that of others.
Listen to your body
By being naked, you may be more attuned to yourself and your needs. I say may, because at first, when you start to practice nudity alone or in society, you discover your body and the sensations it transmits, but you don’t necessarily listen to them. Then slowly, you become aware of it and you may, or not, decide to answer back.
It’s deciding to practice a sport to stay fit or to go back to fitness. This is not necessarily related to the physical aspect, which is only a consequence of physical well-being but to have wellness sensations that are related to a healthy body, that uses all muscles and tendons.
It’s to decide to control your food and drinks to get on the one hand what is best for us, but also to become aware of the impact that we have by our choices on society and our relationship to the planet.
It’s finally, distinguishing naked body and sexuality. It is to draw a conscious line between sexual arousal and shared nudity. Naturism is a great way to learn to control your emotions. A beneficial effect also for couples is the abandonment of jealousy. How many men or women are jealous when their spouse is looking at another man or woman. By being all naked, suspicion dissolves. Naturism is not the solution to marital problems, but it allows the recovery of a healthier relationship based on love, benevolence, and sharing.
A healthy mind in a healthy and naked body
This is how naturism can help with this Greek ideal of a healthy mind in a healthy body, to which I add, and naked. By becoming aware of one’s body, deciding to listen to what our body has to tell us and to dissociating nudity and sexuality, we get closer to this ideal: Mens Sana in Corpore Sano.
Is it necessary to be naturist to achieve this ideal? Probably not. Does naturism help? I think so and many psychologists too. There are many scientific articles available that confirm this impression shared by many naturists.
So is naturism and healthy living compatible? I think so. One can be without the other, as in a couple each has his or her own life. Together, they have an increased, improved and probably more balanced experience. What do you think? Does naturism help you to lead a healthier life? Share in the comment box below.
In the meantime, get naked, stay naked, live naked and share the naked love!
