This Week in the Nudist World: 12-18 October 2026. Naturism Moves Indoors, Into Culture and Onto the Page

Autumn does not end naturist life. It changes its rooms. In Oslo, naturism has entered a folk-dance venue and a study circle. In France, a magazine is preparing its hundredth issue. In Tarragona, an international gathering reaches its scheduled close.

This is a useful picture of a movement that is broader than beaches and summer weather. Naturism survives by becoming ordinary in more places: in culture, publishing, conversation, travel and the patient calendar of clubs. The work is not to make nudity spectacular. It is to give people more serious, welcoming ways to live it.

What Has Happened

Oslo Put Naturism in the Cultural Room

Source: Norsk naturistforbund — Naken folkedans: Gymnos

Oslo Naturist Association, dance company Kartellet and national folk-music venue Riksscenen scheduled Gymnos for 7 October: a one-hour performance for a naked audience, followed by conversation and social dancing. The official listing describes the work as an exploration of touch, distance and human connection through folk dance and music. The source confirms the programme, partners, place and date; it does not provide a post-event attendance figure or review.

A French Naturist Magazine Looks Toward Its Hundredth Issue

Source: Naturisme Magazine — Naturisme magazine N°98 est paru !

Naturisme Magazine published issue 98 on 9 October, its final edition of 2026. The issue includes an interview with photographer Ludivine Nakedcat, coverage of books written by naturists, legal reporting on public breastfeeding and reports from naturist centres and beaches. The magazine is also inviting readers into photography projects around issues 99 and 101, with issue 100 planned for March 2027.

The Southern European Gathering Reaches Its Scheduled Close

Sources: INF-FNI Events — Southern European Naturist Gathering 2026 and Federación Española de Naturismo — Encuentro Internacional de Naturistas del Sur de Europa

The 16th Southern European Naturist Gathering was scheduled at El Templo del Sol in Tarragona from 5 to 12 October. INF-FNI and the Spanish Naturist Federation both confirm the event and dates. As this issue is prepared, neither source provides a closing report, attendance total or account of outcomes, so the gathering belongs here as a dated international meeting rather than as a claimed success.

Oslo Opens a Study Circle on Naturist Ideas

Source: Norsk naturistforbund — October 2026 calendar

Oslo Naturist Association has scheduled a naturism study circle for Wednesday 14 October. The federation’s calendar presents it as a chance to discuss the ideas behind naturism and its possible force in individual and social life. It is a small event, but an unusual one: a naturist organisation making room not only for swimming, sauna and yoga, but for deliberate study and argument.

What Will Happen Later This Month

British Naturism’s Gathering Returns to Stirling

Source: British Naturism — One Last Big Weekend: The Gathering 2026

British Naturism is promoting The Gathering at the King Robert Hotel in Stirling from 30 October to 2 November. The Halloween weekend is scheduled to include body painting, live music, dancing and shared meals. It is the organisation’s final major event of 2026 and another example of organised naturism moving confidently into hotels, arts and indoor social life after the outdoor season.

House Note from Stan

I keep returning to the Oslo study circle because naturism is often asked to defend itself in borrowed language: health, tourism, tolerance, personal freedom. All of those languages have their uses, but a movement also needs places where people can sit down and ask what it thinks it is doing. A pool gives us practice; a dance performance gives us sensation; a study circle gives us an argument we can test together. The House should pay attention whenever naturists make room for thought without turning ordinary naked life into a lecture. We need more rooms where experience and ideas are allowed to meet.
