Naturist Thought #30 – Shock

Being a naturist and getting naked is not about shocking others, non-naturist. People are shocked by what they do not know or what they think is wrong. Do we, naturist, shock others when we are naked? The answer is yes. Some people are shocked when they see naked bodies as they find nudity a private matter.

Shall we get dressed because others may be shocked? The answer is no. Of course, there are circumstances we should, mostly for legal reasons. However, overall nudity is nothing to be shocked about. Nudity is harmless. It’s perfectly natural. Natural nudity is “unlearned” and can be “relearned”.

Shocked people can remain shocked or move to something else. Generally, people who are shocked about nudity are shocked about other things, like gay marriage, vegan diet or heavy metal. Not that all nudists are more open minded than textiles, but it’s an observation I’ve made a couple of times. In a nutshell, being a naturist will shock some, it’s your decision to balance who you really are with who you want not to shock.

  1. I Agree completely. If a person is shocked by ‘X’, one can often predict what other things will shock the person.

Then there’re people who’re shocked by almost any kind of change or even by the idea they might need to change their weltanschauung/worldview.
