Starting Naturism at Home on Weekends

If you have been thinking about trying naturism but still feel a little hesitant, let me offer what is often the gentlest place to begin: at home, on weekends.

For many people, home is the safest, most private, and most comfortable place to explore a new way of being. A weekend gives you time. It removes the pressure of a rushed weekday and lets you discover whether nude comfort can become part of ordinary life. It is where I started, and it remains one of the most practical foundations of my naturist life.

Why home and weekends work so well

  • Privacy and control: You are in your own space. You can close the curtains, lock the door, open the windows, or stop whenever you want.
  • No time pressure: A weekend makes it easier to begin slowly. You can try an hour, an afternoon, or a whole day without rushing.
  • Low barrier: You do not need to travel, explain yourself to strangers, or wait for a perfect outside setting. You can begin exactly where you already are.

A simple first-weekend approach

1. Choose a quiet first moment.

Pick a relaxed Saturday or Sunday morning. Instead of getting dressed right away, stay naked while you make coffee or tea and let the first half hour unfold naturally.

2. Set up a comfortable space.

Choose one or two rooms where you feel fully at ease. A living room, bedroom, balcony, or garden can all work. Keep a towel nearby for comfort and simple hygiene.

3. Do ordinary things at an ordinary pace.

Read, listen to music, stretch, tidy up, or simply sit quietly. The goal is not to stage a big naturist event. It is to let your body experience comfort without extra drama.

4. Communicate simply if you need to.

If you live with others or expect visitors, a short calm message is often enough: “I have started trying naturism at home on weekends, so I may be naked for part of the day. You can wear whatever feels right to you. No pressure at all.”

What often changes first

Many beginners notice the same small surprises. The body relaxes. The mood gets lighter. Clothes stop interrupting the day. What felt unusual at first can start to feel quietly practical.

A calm weekend setup can help nude comfort feel like part of ordinary life

That matters because home naturism often grows through repetition, not through one dramatic breakthrough. A few calm weekends can do more than one bold experiment.

A better first step than waiting for perfect courage

Starting at home on weekends removes most of the usual barriers. There is no audience, no performance, and no need to prove anything. There is only the chance to notice whether nude comfort makes your life feel simpler and more honest.

If home is where naturism first starts to feel possible, continue with Becoming a Nudist for a calmer next step.

  1. That’s exactly how my husband I started, at home. He was already a nudist. However he brought me along slowly. Now we are full time members at a nude resort, we hike nude on public lands and it’s just an amazing liberating lifestyle.

    • Thank you for sharing this. The slow and kind part matters. When one person is already a nudist and the other is curious or hesitant, pressure usually closes the door, while patience lets comfort grow. Your path from home nudity to resorts and nude hiking is a beautiful example of how ordinary first steps can become a fuller naturist life over time.

  2. I practice nudism every day all the year. The problems are the visitors, my family who don´t accept my nudity and ask me respect for them. Naturist life is lack of respect? Y respect your dressed life and no ask them to stay like me.

    • Juan, this is a real question, and I understand the frustration. Naturist life is not a lack of respect. But at home, especially with family and visitors, respect has to work in both directions. The useful goal is not to hide who you are, and not to force others into your comfort before they are ready. It is to create clear spaces and moments where your nudity is normal, while also making guests and family feel safe in the shared home. That balance is not always easy, but it keeps naturism calm and non-aggressive.

  3. Over years I would sneak around wherever I could keeping it quiet. But this year, I told my wife I was a nudist. I started out going out of the shower and she said what the hell, your naked in bed? I said yep! She said ok if that’s how you want to sleep is fine with me. It went on like that in the mornings too. Then outside in the pool also. So 7 months later I am nude most of the time. Love it!!

    • Robert, thank you for sharing this. I like how ordinary the progression became: first sleeping naked, then mornings, then the pool, and then simply feeling at home with it. That quiet acceptance inside a couple matters a lot. It shows that starting naturism at home does not always need a grand conversation or a dramatic change. Sometimes it begins with honesty, patience, and letting the body become normal in daily life.

      • Thanks for the response! I would love to be nude 24/7 but I have to go out everyday either to work or run errands. I just wear a pair of shorts and that’s it when I go out. I feel sooo much better nude. Love it!!
